Attappadi (motherhouse)

The Mother House of Abhishekagni Sisters is located in Attappadi, Thavalam near the Sehion Retreat Center. The Monastery and its compound was blessed with the presence of our 3 founders – Rev. Fr. Xavier Khan Vattayil, Rev. Fr. Binoy Karimaruthinkal and Rev. Mother Amy Emmanuel.

TIMELINE…

All the important incidents including the following have taken place in the Mother House:

  • Birth of ASJM as a pious union in the Eparchy of Palghat of the Syro Malabar Major Archiepiscopal Church on 8 September 2014 with the entrance of the first batch of Aspirants.

  • Blessing of Abhishekagni Chapel on 28 April 2016 by His Excellency Bishop Mar Jacob Manathodath.

  • Visit of His Beatitude Cardinal Mar George Alencherry with 12 other bishops on 2 August 2017.

  • The community of Abhishekagni Sisters was raised up as a monastery sui iuris (Autonomous ) on 14 December 2017, the Feast of St. John of the Cross.

  • Six senior sisters did their perpetual profession and seven novices of the first batch Novitiate did their first profession on 3 January 2019 at Sehion, on the Feast of St. Chavara Kuriakose Elias.

  • Abhishekagni Renewal Centre (St. Dominic Chapel) for Retreats and renewal programmes was blessed on 27 April 2019 by His Excellency Mar Jacob Manathodath.

As a Formation House, we provide holistic formation for aspirants, postulants, novices, and campers through various classes, training programs, and spiritual activities. Alongside their studies, they conduct Solemn Rosary Procession, Way of the Cross, adoration, and intercession daily in addition to their spiritual activities. Opportunities are also offered to nurture their God-given talents and develop their skills in diverse fields, fostering their overall personal and spiritual growth.

Located within our compound, the Abhishekagni Renewal Centre serves as a vibrant center for spiritual renewal and faith formation. The Centre regularly organizes retreats, renewal programs, and spiritual enrichment sessions for a wide range of groups, including seminarians, religious, married couples, youth, and children.

Through talks, reflection, and spiritual sharing, these programs help participants deepen their faith, experience personal transformation, and strengthen their relationship with God. The Centre continues to be a place of grace, healing, and renewal for all who seek spiritual growth and a deeper encounter with the Lord.
